Sunset on Cadillac Mountain |
We decided to start a family blog to report on our so-far amazing vacation in Bar Harbor, Maine, where we are exploring Acadia National Park. After a long drive yesterday up from Providence, we arrived at our rental house and everyone had fun exploring the rooms, the games, the back yard playset, etc. Basically it feels like a B&B without any other people, and having the whole house to ourselves! We managed to pack in a tremendous amount today: after a short intro film at the visitors' center, we drove the Park Loop Road in Acadia, with many stops along the way. An unplanned hike up Dorr Mountain, exploring the boulders by Thunder Hole, swimming in the swimming hole across the street fron our house, and then getting nearly blown off the top of Cadillac Mountain when we were watching the sunset. Without further ado, I will post the kids' observations about their first day:
Anan - We did hiking. I really had fun in the hiking. We also climbed on the rocks and I had a good day. The names of the rocks were Thunder Hole. The next day will be good.

Zoey - On my first day I had a lot of fun hiking. In the start it was really tiring climbing lots of steps but in the end it was really fun. Me, Anan, Yadin and Abba climbed lots of boulders by the ocean. Later in the day, me, Anan, and Rakia went swimming in the swimming hole across the street from our house. It was really fun swimming there. At night we went all the way up Cadillac Mountain and we saw the sun go down and it was really pretty. It was also really windy up there. I had a really fun day today and I can't wait for tomorrow.

Yadin - It was a really good day. I loved the hiking, especially when I ran ahead of everyone. We thought it was going to be a walk but in the end it was a climb up Dorr Mountain. I really liked seeing the sunset on Cadillac Mountain, the first sunset in the US. The wind almost blew me off the mountain!
